Je vais en France!!

Hey everyone. Long time no blog. Sorry.

So, here's what's going on in my life:

I had a hell-ish semester. Psycho roommate/ex-best friend(s), moving from dorm to dorm, etc. Happily, it's all over now. I leave for home (winter break) tomorrow. A little more Christmas shopping (just my mom left!), a few check-up appointments (doctors, hair, etc.), dogsitting, and most importantly, PREPARING FOR EUROPE!! Woo.

You read right! I'm going to Europe. January 6-18 I'll be in Europe for the first time! I'm going to Nice, France and London, England. What whattt. It's a school trip and like 30 others are going, and two professors. I'm taking the trip for credit, so it'll be fun. We get to see tons of performances and stuff. We're seeing Belle au Bois Dormant in Nice, holy crap! Close friends, like [roomie] Sarah, Cassie, and Kimyata are going. I know some others, too. But we're totally stoked. Ahh! And, btw, I think I'm going to meet up with actor Chris Rithin (see my earlier post on my feature article based on an interview I had with him)!!

I bought luggage today. Or, my mom did. But it's mine and it's pretty and perfectlyyyy sized. -Interuption- Some guy is totally whistling Deck the Halls in the hallway of my dorm. Just sayin'. -Back to Europe talk- So, I'm basically all packed clothes-wise, but I still gotta get my toiletries together and junk. But it shouldn't be too bad.

So, the point of this blog post wasn't to bore you about cute luggage, but to tell you to watch up for some blog updates and tonssss of pictures that I will post in some down-time (if there is any!) on the trip. And post-trip, you will DEF have tons of extras.

I'm considering even creating a travel blog. But I haven't decided. Sarah and I are considering doing a Vlog of it. Look out for it. :). I'll keep you posted. Hah, no pun intended.

So, I'm going to finish getting my stuff together. Love ya!

Une Note Parfaite!

I had to complete and present an online portfolio for my Publicity Methods class tonight. I did start the basics ahead of time and comepleted it this morning. The blog had to have all of our class assignments featured on it (as sample works that we have done, things like press releases, event itineraries, etc.). I also added my resume, some examples of my French work, feature stories, and other things on there.

I got a 75/75 on it! Woo! The only thing I was marked down for was a lack of professional color, but in the instructions she said to have the blog reflect our personalities, and I love pink and I'm a pretty bubbly happy person, so I thought the color reflected me. No worries though, I had enough extras on my blog that I still got a perfect grade. :).

Here's the link: Stacey's Online Portfolio.

Share it with people who are hiring!!!!! :)

Finalement!!

Yay, so I finally got to bake.

I'm home for school (for only a week. I go back on Aug 31st!) and when I got home, I headed straight to Mom's bf's house, where his 9-year-old and I baked it upp. I wanted originally to do Bakerella's Cupcake Pops, but I forgot my cookie cutter, so we did the Cake Balls instead. Since Marty's (my mom's bf) family looooves chocolate, I didn't do red velvet. We did: Dark Chocolate Fudge.

I actually don't like dark chocolate, but whatever. I just really wanted to bake and try this recipe. So, I got my supplies. Cake mix, icing, melting candy (in chocolate and pink-colored vanilla), and a 9 yr old. That's really it.

It's a pretty simple process, you bake the cake mix like normal, and when its cooled, you crumble the cake into a bowl and you mix the can of icing (a little less though, because it gets very moist very fast) in with the cake crumbs, to make a dough-like consistency. Then, you roll it into balls...

and place them on a tray to cool them (disregard the way my hair looks, please.)

Then, you proceed to go out to dinner with the people who are waitin
g for this dessert while the balls chill in the fridge. When you get back, full and lazy, you gotta force yourself back into the kitchen to start melting the candy. After you get the candy melted, you dip and twirl the balls (using a spoon is very helpful by the way) in the runny and warm stuff. You make sure it's covered

and place it in pretty wrappers. I guess these aren't necessary because people just rip them off and throw them out, but they make it a little prettier and a little less messy. Then, you put them back in the fridge for a bit so they can harden,

and you also may get forced to watch Race to Witch Mountain with said 9 year old, even though you've begged to watch Hannah Montana. Can you believe that there exists a 9 year old girl in 2009 who absolutely HATES Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus? My gosh.

So after that movie, you take them out of the fridge and sink your teeth into them. And proceed to eat like, a billion of them. They are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good. I know that was an obnoxious so, but they were delish!! Thanks Bakerella!

So, I plan on making these again next week-ish. I bought some red velvet cake mix and devils food cake mix for some more batches. I need to make one set for a special occasion and another batch to bring back to school. Steffy NEEDS to try these.

I feel like there should be something else to this blog post, but I'm not sure what it needs to finish it off.

Well, isn't whipped cream like, perfect thing to add to a sweet thing? Here you go.

Je travaille maintenant! :D

Haha, yes, for all of you who speak French, you know I'm currently sitting at work. I was asked to come in to do something specific, and that thing isn't ready, so yeah. I'm blogging.

So, I kind of want to establish a theme for my blog... but I can't think of one / decide on one. Feel free to shoot some suggestions! Oh, btw, if you have a blog or know of any cool blogs, let me know and I'll check them out and probably post them in that little list I have on my sidebar.

So, I guess for now I'll post some interesting findings. I came across this picture a while back and since then, I've always wanted to do something with it, but I didn't know what. So I'm blogging it, I guess.

Yep, that's a balloon animal sculpture. :D I think it's at the Met in NYC. I could be wrong though.

What else have I found? Well, I'll tell you.

Disney Princess Wedding Dresses!! I like the Belle one. I knew there was an underlying reason why she was always my favorite.

That poor elephant. But, it's a cute picture anyway. Next!

I love LOLcats. and LOLporcupines. I kind of want one, they are so cute!

And to wrap up this meaningless post, lol, here's a picture of me from yesterday. The summer office workers (aka, me and 3 others) had a summer project to make these workshop videos, and we did an Alice in Wonderland theme. They made me be the Queen of Hearts.

Now that I've thoroughly embarrassed myself, I guess it's time to end this post. I'll hopefully find something much more meaningful for next time.

Reportage sur Chris Rithin

Hey everyone!

It's been a while since I've posted, but, I've been quite bogged down with school work lately. Speaking of schoolwork, I've written a bunch of feature stories for my Feature Writing class. I'm actually sitting in class now after just handing in my latest feature, about actor Chris Rithin (great guy and amazing actor! @chrisrithin on Twitter) and how he uses Twitter/Facebook. Also, a big thanks to Isabelle for letting me get her point of view for the piece! She's a doll, check out her Twitter, @SammysWorld.

Here's my Chris Rithin feature story :D :

La Culture Pop et Harry

So, here's a really interesting article I've found via Twitter. It's from the NY Times. Since I'm still on HP kick (and currently watching Goblet of Fire, I might add) I feel it's fitting to kick start my blog's first content post.

Harry Potter is their Peter Pan

So, before reading the article, you see a picture of some college kids playing quidditch. 1. They are students at Middlebury College in VT. A foreign language school, I've been dying to go there since high school. My high school French teacher went there, and ever since she's told me about their program and I've researched it, I feel like I NEED to go there. I plan to apply there for Grad School as one of my top choices. But that's another story for another time, I suppose. Back to the quidditch, my roommate (Sarah) had told me that some colleges, like Notre Dame, had actual quidditch teams that were intermural and trying to become official NCAA sports! I found this hysterical, yet fun. I'd love to see/play in a qudditch game!

But anyway, to the actual content of the article, I see their side of the argument, of Harry Potter being Generation Y's (I'm in this generation, too) pop culture icon, like how Peter Pan was for another. Um, I didn't know Peter Pan was a pop culture icon to represent a generation, but OK.
I don't think Harry would be either. I mean, yeah, it's a phenominon that just about every kid, when it came out, read or at least knew about. And for the bibliophobes, the movies followed soon after. But, I feel there are just as much people who can't stand HP and this causing a ton of closet fans that wouldn't make this Generation Y's icon in the least. I can't really come up with one. I feel like it might be closer to being Tommy Pickles than it would be Harry Potter.

As much as I love Potter, I don't think he'd be the winning candidate (although maybe in the race?) of being our generation's pop culture icon. What do you think? Feel free to comment your thoughts.

Mon jour:
  • I did some quick shopping with roomie Sarah at Michael's. Made some things for Lindsey's birthday gift, and started a HP project - making the Dark mark on a cross stitch. I'll post a pic of it when I'm done.
  • I took a test in my Human Resource Management class today. It was terrible, but I didn't really take the time to prepare and study like I should have, so I'm not sure how well I did.
  • Roomie Sarah went home for the weekend, til Monday afternoon. :(. By myself, watching some DVDs, tweeting, maybe I'll write a little.
Alright, will post soon again!

Renaissance?

I know it's been forever since I've posted. And this one will definitely be a short one, I'm just waiting for my roomie (Sarah) to finish something on her computer.

So, I've been thinking, and I think I want to restart my blog, by putting some more interesting stuff up here, and spreading the word of it. I doubt it will ever get far at all, but it's really just for fun. Nothing's holding me back, so why the hell not?

So enough business, this is what I'm up to lately:

  • I've this nasty sunburn on my back, it's terrible and painful and won't go away. It's hindering everything I do. It's beginning to itch, so hopefully the healing process is underway.
  • I seem to be boggled down by homework and stuff, but truthfully I don't really have much, I'm just being a slacker. This whole summer I haven't done much, and I'm starting to feel the results of it. Don't ask what those results are, lol.
  • I'm still in my HP phase, I assume I will be for a bit, probably until school starts. Once the regular semester kicks in, I'll probably be back to normal.
Alright, roomie is ready to head to dinner, so I'll be going. Class tonight and then maybe I'll do some hunting for an interesting blog post.

Bella est partie =[

Ciao!

I'm sitting in my mom's room, she's falling asleep. I'm bored. =[

Today was super boring. I just lazed around the house with Bella, didn't do much of anything.

Around dinner time, my mom got home and Evan came after. We kind of just hung out, ate dinner, did whatever. Evan went back to his friends for the night, but he's driving back to Pittsburgh tomorrow morning, so he took Bella with him and some stuff, including my air conditioner and my microwave lol. I found my high school class ring, I'm sooo excited about it. I was looking for it everywhere.

I tried sending a picture of Bella all weekend to Blogger from my cell, but it won't work. :(. I'll add it on here at the end.

And my glasses just broke. ugh. =[

I wanted to go back to school tonight, but it started to rain really hard so I'm staying again tonight..but first thing in the morning is Rider.

What else? Nothing went on today, and I'm still bored, lol.

Okay, here's Bella!! She's a pitbull/boxer mix, she's such a good dog, so sweet and curious! Almost 2 1/2 years old! I had such a good weekend with her, I miss her already!

Good night!

J'aime le chien de mon frère, Bella!

Hiii.

I'm at home, after a long-ish day.

I woke up a little before 2pm.. PM! Jenn and I decided to try good ol' JD last night. We didn't get more than tipsy.. we kind of got distracted by facebook, lol.

My mom called me the instant I woke up and told me that Evan was coming home today with Bella, his dog.

I looove Bella, she's my pride-and-joy away from home. I never had a dog as a kid (not a day went by that I didn't beg for one, though) and Ev got her about two years ago-ish (I think). She's a pitbull boxer mix, she's gorgeous, funny, curious, energetic, and very, very sweet. She makes me so happy. She loooves to cuddle lol. I rarely get to see her, so when I do, she's the center of my attention.

So, my mom calls me and tells me I need to come home ASAP to dog-proof the house as much as possible. I was coming home anyway to hang out with Stef, we had a date with Taco Bell and Maggie Moos. So, I can home, unloaded my car some, kinda did some dog-proofing, and by then, Stef came. We went to Taco Bell, drove around Toms River. We stopped at the Avenue, I got a pair of skinny jeans and a cute-cut white Tee. Excited about that :).

While in the fitting room, at like 6:45, Ray calls me and tells me he's OFFICIALLY engaged to Erica! I'm so so so so so excited, I almost have a sister(-in-law)! I can't wait. I'm taking event planning at the perfect time!

So after a bit, Stef and I go to Maggie Moos (GREAT ice cream) and then to Barnes and Noble to kill time. Stef has work at 8am, so she had to head home. At 9:45, I had to meet Ev at his friends house to pick up Bella.

I've been home since, I walked outside with Bella a few times and made sure she ate (she did - she's so skinny because she never eats!). I'm going to take her to Petsmart and Petco tomorrow and to the dog park, too.

I'm not going to Ray's tomorrow to help move because I have to dog sit. I'd bring her, but she'd kinda get in the way. I'll go Sunday or Monday to help/see the house.

I'm kind of tired, I think I'm going to do some quick Google searches and head to bed.

Il fait beau aujourd'hui!

Soo, today is going well so far :)

I worked 11-4:30 at the tutoring center.. it was pretty slow, but I did all the things Kendall needed me to do. Betty's list is still pretty untouchable. I miss Betty!

I went down to dinner after work and sat with some of my suitemates, Teresa, Marli, and I thiiiiink Marli's boyfriend, I forget his name, or if he's her boyfriend, but he's really nice. Dinner was gross per usual, but the company was fun.

I walked back to my room, it felt sooo nice to walk outside, the temperature is so nice out. It was fa-reeeezing inside the BLC.

I'm kind of sleepy, though, I think it's because the weather is so nice. I wish I could be lazy for the rest of the day. I have class in about an hour.

Intro to News Writing.. looove my prof, can't wait to go back to class.. but at the same time, I don't feel like going at all.

Change of plans already for this weekend. Having a drink with Jenn tonight instead of tomorrow, probably not going to see Russ tomorrow, might be working 10-2 with Kendall instead. I still might go home tomorrow night to pick up those few things. Maaaybeh, maybe not. I could do some laundry too. Hmm, good idea. I'm going to write that on my to-do list. Ooh, ooh, maybe on Fri, I'll go home early and hit the beach!! But then I don't work.. what to do, what to do. Saturday is still the same.. helping Ray and Erica move. Excited! Sunday is lazy still, woo. And Monday! No class, no work.. reeeeelaxing.

I would so love to nap right now. But that's not gonna happen. So, I'll do some work I guess.

Laterr.

Premier Message

So, this is my first post.

I made a Blogger because I used to use DeadJournal, wayy back in the day, and we constantly talk about blogging and Web2.0 skills in various classes.. and I do miss blogging. So I made one.

I've decided to put all of my blog title's in French.. I feel like it adds a little flair to my blog and keeps an important aspect of my life in it.

I'm sitting in my summer dorm, avoiding doing something productive, like re-doing my notes from class, or getting to bed at a decent hour. I could be reading the novel I'm 3/4 through (but in all honesty, it's gotten boring. The only reason why I want to finish it is because I don't like leaving books unfinished.), or something or other.

Summer classes, this semester, are shaping up really well. I really like my Event Planning class. We started right off the bat with information that is useful.. and the professor, who is great, showed us the information is actually used in the real world. How? Via a company's blogger! I thought it was pretty cool. I'm really liking the whole event planning thing.. it could be where I lead my up-in-the-air career.

My other class is News Writing, which sounds easy and boring.. but again, a professor can make or break the class. My prof is really, really funny, in the way that would be truly annoying to some but constantly hysterical to others. Guess which group I fall into? Yep. lol. Four 3-hour classes per week though, it's kind of rough. I wish I had a longer break, 4 days is NOT enough.

Friday, I'm going to see Russ in the morning/afternoon, and then hopefully I'll run home and drop the junk out of my car, grab a few things I left home (my AP-Style handbook, my new box of contacts, and a stapler, etc.), maybe visit Nanny at the home, and at night, Jenn and I are going to go to Applebees for drinks (she turned 21 today!) and then early Saturday, I'm helping Ray and Erica move into their new house, sooooo stoked about that. After, I'll head back to school Sat. evening and enjoy the rest of the weekend/do homework. Sounds fun? Eh, better than doing nothing, and on Sunday I can be pretty lazy I think.

I went to the gym yesterday, it went pretty well. I should be going more like everyday. I think I will go more when I get into my daily habits/rituals. Even if I don't see the best results, I feel a little more accomplished after I go. Hey, it's better than nothing.

Ok, well, I'm going to explore blogger some more now, maybe subscribe to some blogs. Suggestions welcome!
